The Kili Climb

Doug Platts

Doug Platts Hi, so first of all a little bit about myself. I’m 25, which actually makes me the youngest of the climbers – they’re an old bunch ;-) I’m a Natural Search Analyst and have been working for our company for around a year.

Before I started university and throughout my degrees, I made the most of holidays to travel as much tigger-prof.jpgas possible. Some of the countries I have travelled around are India, Egypt, Thailand, as well as whilwind trip to the states earlier this year where I went to Washington D.C., New York City and of course Disney World – can’t miss that out. I have done some trekking before on my travels, I completed a 4 day trek in Peru climbing to the Inca temple Machu Picchu, which involved trekking through the mountains in every type of weather! I also spent some time in the Himalayas whist I was in India visiting the home of the Dali Lama.

hastings-prof.jpgAs part of my fundraising activities I’ve been mainly running! I’ve taken part in the Hastings and Jersey Half Marathons earlier this year and I am going to be running in the BUPA 10K Capital run at Hyde Park in July. Running for these distances is totally new to me – before this my average was about 10 minutes on the treadmill at my local gym. So this has been all new experiences for me. I am really looking forward to the challenge of climbing Mt. Kilimajarao, as well as getting the chance to visit Tanzania as that area of Afirca is one of the places I have really wanted to explore.face-book.jpg

This is my first time raising money for charity at this level, I have made donations to cause before but never at this amount or been so closely involved.
